Pilot study comparing operating room workflow and team ergonomics in robotic-assisted versus navigated total knee arthroplasty

Dr. Thomas Aubert · 2026

Robotic-assisted TKA is increasingly adopted to improve surgical precision. While clinical outcomes have been widely studied, less is known about its impact on operating room workflow and surgeon workload.

This study evaluated both using DEO.care process intelligence and ergonomic assessment. Twenty primary TKA procedures performed by Dr. Thomas Aubert were analyzed: 10 robotic-assisted (VRAS) and 10 computer-navigated cases. DEO.care process intelligence captured the complete ORworkflow, while NASA-TLX surveys and ergonomic measurements assessed surgeon workload and physical demand.
